Deal or No Deal (Singaporean game show)
Deal or No Deal is a Singaporean game show that aired on MediaCorp Channel 5 and HD5 for two seasons, totaling 37 episodes, from May 13, 2007 to January 31, 2008. It is based on the original Dutch format and is hosted by Adrian Pang.
How the game works
- Each episode starts with a contestant picking one of 26 briefcases. Each briefcase holds a random cash amount from S$1 to S$250,000.
- Before play, a third party places the amounts in the cases. 26 models reveal the contents during the game.
- The contestant keeps one case and then opens six of the remaining cases to eliminate amounts. A large “money tree” shows which amounts are still in play.
- After each round, a mysterious Banker calls and offers to buy the contestant’s case. The contestant can accept the offer (Deal) or reject it (No Deal) and continue.
- If the contestant declines, they open more cases and a new offer comes. The number of cases to open decreases each round (six, then five, then four, three, and two).
- If the final offer is rejected, the contestant wins the money in their chosen case.
- The contestant has supporters (usually three, four in season 2) who help decide what to do.
Extras and features
- Six briefcases are shown on screen around breaks, and viewers can text in guesses to win prizes.
- There is an online game on the show’s site, and a lucky draw for correct guesses.
- The Banker's voice is never heard; only Adrian Pang talks to the contestant.
- Notable models included Andrea Fonseka.
