The 17th Iranian Majlis (parliament) started on April 25, 1952. In August 1953, Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh was toppled in a coup organized with help from the CIA, at Britain’s MI6 request, which chose General Fazlollah Zahedi to replace him. The Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, eventually dissolved the 17th Majlis. The article also notes the successive Majlis terms and their start years, from the 1st Majlis in 1906 to the 12th in 2024.
