Muaythai at the 2022 World Games
The muaythai tournaments at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, were held from July 15–17, 2022, at the Boutwell Memorial Auditorium. They were moved from 2021 to July 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Olympics postponement.
This was muaythai’s second appearance at the World Games. For 2022, the weight classes changed: men’s went from eight to six, while women’s increased from three to six, giving full gender equality for the first time. There were 12 events in total (6 men’s and 6 women’s).
A total of 96 athletes from 39 nations could participate. Each national Olympic committee could enter up to 12 competitors (one per weight class). The United States, as host nation, had entries in all 12 events. All times were local (UTC−5). The United States was the only delegation to qualify the maximum 12 entries.
