Danzetsu is the debut album by Japanese singer-songwriter Yōsui Inoue, released on May 1, 1972. The backing tracks were mostly played by The Mops and arranged by guitarist Katz Hoshi, who would go on to work with Inoue on many later projects. Before the album came out, the single Jinsei ga Nido Areba was released on March 1, 1972; its B-side was the album’s title track Danzetsu, known for its aggressive vocals that nod to Paul and Linda McCartney’s Monkberry Moon Delight.

The album’s best-known song is Kasa ga Nai, released as the second single on July 1, 1972. It became one of Inoue’s signature tunes and has been covered by many artists, including Off Course, Kazuyoshi Saito, UA, Mucc, and Akina Nakamori. In 2004, Bank Band performed Kagirinai Yokubō on their album Soushi Souai.

Danzetsu helped Inoue break through and stay popular on the Oricon charts for more than three years in the mid-1970s. All songs were written and composed by Yōsui Inoue, with arrangements by Katz Hoshi. The album was produced by Hidenori Taga and released by Polydor Japan; it sits within the folk rock genre.
