Dandi is a village in Jalalpore taluka, Navsari district, Gujarat, India. It sits on the Arabian Sea coast near the city of Navsari. The village is also known by the nickname Danda.

Geography

History and significance
Dandi became famous in 1930 when Mahatma Gandhi chose it as the destination for the Salt March, a pivotal event in India’s struggle for independence. Gandhi and his followers walked from Sabarmati, Ahmedabad to Dandi to protest Britain's salt tax, with thousands of people traveling on foot for 24 days.

Memorials and tourism
The government has looked to develop the Sabarmati–Dandi route as a tourist hub. In 2019, the National Salt Satyagraha Memorial was opened in Dandi to commemorate the Salt March.
