Dan Gargan, full name Daniel Charles Gargan, is a former American professional soccer defender. He was born December 14, 1982, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is 5 ft 11 in tall. He played college soccer at Georgetown University from 2001 to 2004, scoring 11 goals and 18 assists in 75 games, and served as team captain and MVP in his junior and senior seasons.

Gargan began his pro career with the Chesapeake Dragons in 2004. He was drafted 43rd overall by the Colorado Rapids in the 2005 MLS Supplemental Draft and played for Colorado from 2005 to 2008, making 49 league appearances. He earned Rapids Most Improved Player in 2006. After injuries, he was waived by the Rapids early in 2008 and briefly retired on May 9, 2008 for personal reasons.

He returned to soccer in 2009 with the Puerto Rico Islanders, appearing in 12 league games and scoring 1 goal, helping them reach the playoffs and the CONCACAF Champions League group stage.

In 2010 Gargan joined Toronto FC, where he played 43 league games and scored 1 goal over two seasons, including his first MLS goal on July 1, 2010. He was traded to the Chicago Fire in July 2011, finishing with 31 league appearances and 1 goal across the 2011–2012 seasons.

Gargan signed with the San Jose Earthquakes for 2013, appearing eight times. He then joined the LA Galaxy in 2014 and played 53 league games through 2015. The Galaxy released him in February 2016 for salary cap reasons.

After retiring, Gargan worked as a color commentator for Atlanta United FC on Fox Sports South/Southeast. In August 2016 he became the first General Manager of Lou Fusz Athletic.
