Tithraustes (Old Persian: Ciθrāvahištaʰ; Greek: Τιθραύστης) was the Persian satrap (governor) of Sardis in the early 4th century BC. Not much is known about him. He came from Susa to replace Tissaphernes in 395 BC and arrested and killed his predecessor. To weaken the Spartan threat under Agesilaus, Tithraustes persuaded Agesilaus to march north into Pharnabazus’s territory and even provided money for the campaign. After this, no further actions by him are recorded. Xenophon says he sent Timocrates of Rhodes to Greece to oppose Sparta, but that is unlikely given the chronology.
