D!v!s!on No. 9
D!v!s!on #9 (Division No. 9) is an electronic music project from New Brunswick, Canada, started in 1996 by Mick Hale. It was active from 1996 to 1997 and released music on Full Contact Records and Tinman.
The debut album, The True Creator, came out in 1996. The music blends ambient, jungle and trance, drawing on influences like Aphex Twin, Cabaret Voltaire, Clock DVA and Lassique Bendhaus. The track Dub Altar appeared on the 1996 Full Contact compilation Echo.
After Fifth Colvmn Records went bankrupt, Hale released the second album, Dub N Bass: Omen II, on Tinman in 1997. This album uses more vocal samples and a keyboard-driven atmosphere with layered sounds. The track Omen II also appeared on the Tinman compilation Empire One.
