Cyprus at the 2010 Winter Olympics

Cyprus competed in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, from February 12 to 28. The team had two alpine skiers, Christopher Papamichalopoulos and his sister Sophia Papamichalopoulou. Christopher carried the flag at the opening ceremony and Sophia carried it at the closing ceremony.

In competition, Christopher did not win a medal. In the giant slalom, his first run was 1:29, but he did not finish the second run and was unranked. He also competed in the men’s slalom but did not finish the first run.

Sophia competed in two events. In the women’s giant slalom, her runs were 1:28 and 1:23, for a total of 2:51, placing 55th. In the women’s slalom, she had two runs of 1:02, finishing 53rd.

Cyprus did not win any medals at Vancouver. The country would win its first Olympic medal at the 2012 Summer Games.
