Cycling at the 2024 Summer Olympics – Qualification (short version)

Overview
A total of 514 cyclists (257 men and 257 women) competed in 22 cycling events across road, track, mountain biking, BMX racing, and BMX freestyle. Quotas were assigned through world rankings, continental representation, and world championships, with France as host receiving reserved spots if not qualified.

Road cycling
180 riders (90 men and 90 women) qualified for road events. A nation could enter up to eight riders in road cycling (four per gender). Most spots were given based on the UCI Road World Ranking by nation for 2022–2023. If France did not qualify directly, its reserved spots were filled by the next best NOCs. Remaining quotas went to the top-ranked nations through three continental meets and the 2023 World Championships in Glasgow.

Time trial quotas (men and women) totaled 35 spots per gender, awarded to nations ranked 1–25 in the UCI World Ranking with continental minimums; any remaining places came from the 2023 World Championships.

Track cycling
190 track cyclists (95 per gender) qualified. A nation could enter up to 14 track cyclists (7 per gender). Event quotas included: 2 per gender in sprint and keirin, 1 in omnium (men and women), 4 in team pursuit, 3 in team sprint, and 2 in Madison. All track quotas were based on the UCI Track Olympic Ranking for 2022–2024.

Mountain biking
72 riders (36 per gender) qualified for cross-country. A nation could enter up to four riders (two per gender). France could reserve one spot per gender if unqualified, and Universality rules allowed two additional spots. Most berths went to the 19 highest-ranked NOCs, with two riders for the top-ranked NOCs (ranked 1–8) and one rider for ranks 9–19. Outside Europe and Oceania, the top NOC per gender earned a continental spot at Africa, Asia, or the Americas championships. The remaining four spots came from the 2023 UCI World Championships in Glasgow and nearby Scotland (two for elite, two for under-23). Quotas were announced in June 2024.

BMX freestyle
24 quota places in total (12 per gender) for BMX freestyle. A nation could enter up to two riders per gender in freestyle park. France could reserve one spot per gender if unqualified. The first half of quotas went to the highest-ranked BMX freestyle riders through the Olympic Qualifier Series (May–June 2024). The remaining spots were allocated to top continents without representation and then to overall top NOCs based on results from the 2022 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships (Abu Dhabi) and the 2023 UCI World Championships (Glasgow). Quotas were updated by late June 2024.

BMX racing
48 riders total (24 per gender) qualified for BMX racing. A nation could enter up to three spots per gender. France could reserve one spot per gender if unqualified, with an additional universality spot available. The remaining quotas were allocated through four routes: a set of riders (Aug 2022–Jun 2024) based on the UCI BMX Olympic qualification period; continental representation for Africa, Asia, and the Americas; and top riders from the 2023 World Championships in Glasgow and the 2024 World Championships in Rock Hill. Quotas were updated by early June 2024.
