Crystal Casino
Crystal Casino, located at 222 Broadway in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, opened in 1990 on the seventh floor of the Fort Garry Hotel and was run by the Manitoba Lottery Foundation. It was the first permanent government-owned casino in the Western Hemisphere. In 1993, two new Winnipeg gaming centers—McPhillips Street Station and Regent Station—opened to replace Crystal’s bingo halls. The Crystal Casino closed on May 22, 1997, and its operations were absorbed by the other Winnipeg casinos.
