Kayleigh Powell
Kayleigh Powell (born 18 February 1999) is a Welsh rugby player who can play fly-half or full-back. She plays for Harlequins Women and the Wales national team, and has represented Team GB in sevens.
Powell grew up in Llantrisant, where she played rugby for Llantrisant and Pencoed, starting as a scrum-half before moving to other positions. She also played cricket for Glamorgan and football for Mid Glamorgan. She represented Wales in both rugby sevens and the 15-a-side game, taking part in the World Rugby Sevens Series and the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She made her Wales 15s debut in November 2019 against Ireland.
Her club career has included Ospreys, then Bristol Bears from 2020, and joining Harlequins in 2024. She missed much of 2021 with injury but signed a semi-professional Wales contract in 2022 and then a full-time contract later that year. She started at full-back for Wales at the delayed 2021 Rugby World Cup in October 2022 and left the 15s programme in November 2022 to join the Great Britain sevens team chasing Olympic qualification. In 2023 she began a hybrid contract with Team GB and Welsh Rugby and played for Wales in the 2024 Six Nations. She was named a reserve for Team GB at the 2024 Olympics and was brought in during the Games as a replacement after an injury, with GB finishing seventh.
After the Olympics, Powell extended her contract with Harlequins in February 2025 and was named in the Welsh squad for the 2025 Six Nations. She was selected for Wales at the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup in England.
