Coorinja Vineyard, also known as Coorinja Winery, is a historic Australian winery located about 5 kilometres south of Toodyay in Western Australia’s Central Western Australia wine region. It sits at 5989 Toodyay Road, Toodyay WA 6566. Founded in 1889 by Harry Fryer Smith, Henry Page Woodward and John Leslie Sinclair, it started with about 32 acres of pinot noir and shiraz. Sinclair left in 1890; the Coorinja Vineyard Company was trademarked in 1893, making it one of Western Australia’s oldest vineyards. The name Coorinja comes from an Aboriginal word meaning “place of the seven springs.” The Wood family has owned the vineyard since 1919; Michael Wood is the winemaker. Coorinja is known for Shiraz and grows Chenin blanc, Gordo muscat, Grenache, and Shiraz. It produces table wines and fortified options like port, sherry, muscat, liqueur muscat, ginger wine and marsala. The winery is open to the public for tastings.
