Clochemerle (film)
Clochemerle is a 1948 French comedy film directed by Pierre Chenal. It stars Félix Oudart, Saturnin Fabre and Jean Brochard. The screenplay by Pierre Laroche adapts Gabriel Chevallier’s 1934 novel Clochemerle. The film, produced by Cinéma Production, was released on 11 May 1948 and runs 90 minutes. It’s in French, with sets designed by art director Pierre Marquet, cinematography by Robert Lefebvre, editing by Monique Kirsanoff, and music by Henri Sauguet. In a Beaujolais town, a dispute erupts when the Radical Party mayor plans to build public urinals opposite the church, and conservative forces led by the local priest and a baroness try to stop him.
