Clésio Moreira dos Santos, known as Margarida (the daisy), is a Brazilian football referee born January 8, 1958, in Palhoça, Santa Catarina. He started training as a referee in 1988 and began developing a quirky, flamboyant persona in the early 1990s. By 1994 he was refereeing with a distinctive style, using expressive movements, flamboyant mannerisms, and pink shirts to stand out and have fun. He spent his official refereeing career in the Campeonato Catarinense from 1988 to 2004, including a notable game for a Florianópolis team against a Mexican team. News about him aired on Brazilian TV until 2003, and he traveled to 16 countries. His refereeing career ended in 2004, but he still officiates at amateur and charity games when asked. By day he works as a tourism manager in Palhoça. He ran for city council in 2008. He is married and has three children: a daughter born in 1985 and two sons born in 1988 and 1993.
