Alexey Karpov
Alexey Yuryevich Karpov (born May 5, 1960, Moscow) is a Russian historian, social scientist, and culturologist. He is the editor of the Molodaya Gvardiya publishing house and specializes in the history of ancient Russia. Karpov has written more than 100 historical works, including biographies of rulers from the first East Slavic state, Kievan Rus. He is best known for the Orthodox trilogy about Princess Olga, Yaroslav the Wise, and Vladimir the Great. He currently lives and works in Moscow.
Life
- Born in Moscow in 1960.
- Graduated in 1982 from the History Department of Moscow State Pedagogical University.
- Worked as a high school history and social studies teacher for about five years.
- In 1987, became an editor at Molodaya Gvardiya; the publishing house has published works since 1990.
- Wrote more than 100 historical books, with popular biographies of ancient Rus rulers and the “Orthodox trilogy.”
- Lives and works in Moscow.
Honours
- 2005 — Alexander Nevsky prize for the book Grand Duke Alexander Nevsky.
- 2014 — National award Imperial culture named after Eduard Volodin, for Grand Duke Alexander Nevsky.
- 2014 — First prize in the competition Education through the Book for Andrey Bogolyubsky (best spiritual and patriotic book).
- 2016 — Patriarchal literary award for significant contribution to Russian literature.
