The SVCh, or Chukavin Sniper Rifle, is a Russian semi-automatic designated marksman/sniper rifle designed to replace the SVD in the Russian Army. It was developed by Kalashnikov Concern, led by designer Andrey Chukavin, and first appeared in 2017. The design is based on the SVK-2016 and uses a “curtain scheme” with an inverted U-shaped upper receiver that acts as a stiff chassis. The bolt and action are in the upper part, while the lower part can be lighter and often uses polymer.
