Ginn's Furniture Store

Ginn's Furniture Store is a historic brick commercial building on Main Street in downtown Milton, Kentucky. Built in the late 1800s, it survived several major floods that hit the town along the Ohio River. Milton grew from river trade with Madison, Indiana, but after the Civil War rail travel reduced river traffic and the local economy weakened. Despite hardships, many new buildings went up in the late 19th century, and Ginn's Furniture reflects that vernacular style with small decorative touches.

The two-story brick building sits on a limestone foundation and is six bays wide on the front (eight on the sides). It has large windows with limestone lintels, two front entrances, and three side doors with sidelights. The hip roof has chimneys at each end, and the interior features an original pressed tin ceiling.

Ginn's Furniture Store is one of only two surviving pre-1937 brick commercial buildings in Milton and is considered the area's most significant architecturally. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 21, 1983 (NRHP reference number 83002881) as part of a countywide preservation effort.
