Torteron is a small rural commune in the Cher department, in the Centre-Val de Loire region of central France. The area is mainly forests and farmland, including the village and several hamlets along the Canal de Berry and the Aubois River. It is about 34 kilometers east of Bourges, at the intersection of the D50 and D26 roads. Torteron covers about 113.5 square kilometers and has a population of 785 (2023). The elevation ranges from 167 to 208 meters above sea level. The mayor for 2020–2026 is Michel Sauvagnat. The time zone is CET (UTC+1) and CEST (UTC+2) in summer. INSEE code 18265, postal code 244713.
