Chitinophaga aurantiaca is a Gram-negative, rod-shaped, non-motile bacterium from the genus Chitinophaga. It is facultatively anaerobic, meaning it can grow with or without oxygen. The species was described in 2019 by Kim and colleagues, and the type strain is THG-SD5.5.
