Children in Need 2016
Children in Need 2016 was a UK charity telethon to raise money for children in need. It was the 37th appeal and was shown live on BBC One from Friday 18 November to the early hours of Saturday 19 November. This was the first show since Terry Wogan’s death earlier in 2016.
New presenters for 2016 were Graham Norton, Ade Adepitan and Marvin Humes, replacing Dermot O’Leary, Fearne Cotton and Nick Grimshaw. The main hosts included Tess Daly, Greg James, Rochelle Humes, Marvin Humes, Russell Kane, and the show was narrated by Alan Dedicoat.
Craig David performed the official Children in Need single, “All We Needed.”
The event took place at the BBC Elstree Centre in London, with activities in Liverpool, Swansea, Bridlington, Dudley, Glasgow, Milton Keynes, Salisbury and Belfast. In these locations, about 150 children sang Lean on Me as part of the Children in Need Choir.
The televised show announced a fundraising total of £46.6 million, the biggest totaliser in Children in Need history at the time.
In summer 2017, it was announced that the charity’s overall fundraising total had reached £60 million.
