Arcadia (character)
Arcadia DeVille is a Marvel Comics mutant who can warp reality using quantum energy. She’s also known as Arcadia and the Queen of the Star Swords. Created by writer John Francis Moore and artist Jim Cheung, she first appeared in X-Force #83 and has been linked to the Damocles Foundation.
As a child, Arcadia was captured and experimented on by the Damocles Foundation. Her powers let her create a fantasy world she could live in for years, until Ulysses Dragonblood freed her. They fled to Kentucky, where they ran from the Sword, a Damocles group trying to capture them. Arcadia tried to help by summoning Cannonball’s friends, but the Sword defeated X-Force. Danielle Moonstar touched Arcadia, sharing some of Arcadia’s power, and Arcadia and Ulysses kept running with Sword members as prisoners.
Arcadia began having dreams about the Demon Bear. She and Ulysses went to Sledge’s junkyard because the Foundation planned to wake a Gatherer of the Celestials. X-Force arrived, and Arcadia, Ulysses, Sledge, and others went to the Damocles Brazilian base to free Selene and Sunspot and to stop Odysseus Indigo from reawakening the Gatherer. Selene took control of the Gatherer, but Moonstar and Arcadia together destroyed it.
Back at the junkyard, Arcadia’s powers ran wild and created the Demon Bear. The bear followed Arcadia, and their powers again spiraled out of control, trapping Moonstar and Arcadia inside the Demon Bear. The bear’s energy overwhelms Arcadia, and she is briefly replaced by one of her living childhood creations until X-Force, Risque, and Ulysses free her.
Abilities: Arcadia can distort reality by manipulating quantum energy, allowing her to teleport and transform people or objects. Her power is fueled by images from her mind. After Arcadia interacts with Moonstar, Moonstar gains the ability to sense energy through quantum forces.
