Cha Cha! Billy May
Cha Cha! Billy May is a studio album by Billy May released in 1960 on Capitol Records. It features instrumental Latin renditions of big-band standards and theme songs from famous ensembles. The arrangements are playful and cheeky, with Capitol calling “Twelfth Street Rag-Cha-Cha” unforgivable. The track “Good-Bye” plays with the Benny Goodman band’s habit of singing “go to hell” over a riff. It was recorded October 1, 1959, at Capitol Studios in Hollywood, and the project influenced May’s later work on Frank Sinatra’s Sinatra Swings.
