Centre Island (Te Anau)
Centre Island (Tihaka) is a tiny island in Lake Te Anau, in New Zealand’s Southland region. It is about 600 meters long and 300 meters wide, and has no permanent residents. The island is recognized as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International because it hosts a breeding colony of bronze shags.
