Edward Evans (actor)
Edward Evans (Albert Edward Walker Evans) was an English film and television actor. He was born on 4 June 1914 in Putney, London, and died on 20 December 2001 in Longsdon, Staffordshire. He served as a captain in the British Army during World War II, with service in North Africa and Italy. He married Pauline Sherrey in 1939 (she died in 1980), and they had two daughters. Evans is known for playing Bob Grove in The Grove Family in the 1950s and Lionel Petty in Coronation Street in 1965–66. He also appeared in episodes of Dixon of Dock Green, The Saint, Doctor Who, Z-Cars, Dad's Army, and One Step Beyond (1960).
