Celebrity Skin (magazine)
Celebrity Skin was a United States pornographic magazine that published nude or semi-nude photos of celebrities, including movie and TV screencaps. It was started in 1986 in New York City as a spin-off of High Society magazine, after editor Gloria Leonard helped introduce the idea of publishing revealing celebrity images. It was a rival to Celebrity Sleuth and eventually ceased publication. The magazine published photos that led to lawsuits by several celebrities, including Margot Kidder, Ann-Margret, and Barbra Streisand, who challenged its publication of nude pictures of them. A well-known issue from September 1999 showed Jennifer Aniston topless in her backyard; those photos also ran in High Society and Celebrity Sleuth in December 1999. The pictures were picked up by other outlets around the world, including Eva Tremila in Italy (April 1999), the Daily Sport in the United Kingdom, and Voici in France (May 31–June 6, 1999). Aniston sued photographer Francois Naverre in 1999, and also sued Man's World Publications and Crescent Publishing Group for publishing the photos. In 2000, Crescent Publishing Group faced a U.S. government charge over illegal billing practices for websites advertised as free, including playgirl.com and highsociety.com.
