Catherine Callaway is a journalist who worked as a news anchor for CNN and Headline News from 1993 to 2014. She was born in Atlanta and graduated from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. She began her TV career at WJSU-TV in Anniston, Alabama, then worked at WAFF-TV in Huntsville and WBMG-TV in Birmingham.

In 1993 she joined CNN, first anchoring a weekend overnight newscast, and in 1994 she hosted a weeknight primetime newscast for West Coast viewers. Over 21 years with Turner Broadcasting, she anchored for CNN, Headline News, CNN International, and CNN.com, and she co-anchored Accent Health with Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Callaway interviewed prominent leaders such as Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, Vicente Fox, Sam Nunn, and Phil Niekro.

In 2002 she was on the overnight desk during CNN’s coverage of the Washington, D.C. sniper arrests, and in August 2005 she anchored overnight coverage of Hurricane Katrina. She also worked as a field reporter for CNN and CNN Newsource, covering hurricanes, space shuttle launches, James Brown’s funeral, and the Michael Brown shooting and Ferguson riots. She retired from the network in 2014.
