Catharina Johanna Lodders, now known as Catharina Evans, was born on 18 August 1942 in Haarlem, Netherlands. She became a Dutch model and beauty queen, winning Miss World 1962 after also taking Miss Holland 1962. In the same year she placed third runner-up at Miss Europe 1962 and Miss International 1962, and she won Miss Benelux 1962. The Miss World pageant was held in London, and she once said she felt she was “the most beautiful girl here.”

On 12 December 1963, the 21-year-old Lodders accepted a marriage proposal from American singer Chubby Checker, and they married on 12 April 1964 in Pennsauken, New Jersey. They later raised three children in Paoli, Pennsylvania; their first child, Bianca Johanna Evans, was born in Philadelphia on 8 December 1966. Checker’s 1963 hit Loddy Lo was written about Lodders. Catharina Lodders Evans is a former Miss World and Dutch beauty queen who spent much of her life in the United States.
