1896 Notre Dame football team
The 1896 Notre Dame football team represented the University of Notre Dame in the 1896 college football season. Frank E. Hering was both captain and head coach in his first season. The team played as an independent and held home games at Brownson Hall field. They finished with a 4–3 record, shut out four opponents, and outscored opponents 160 to 50.
