Carver Yachts
Carver Yachts was a boat builder in Pulaski, Wisconsin. They made boats from 18 to 57 feet long.
Carver started in 1954 in Milwaukee, founded by Charles "Charlie" Carter and George Verhagen. They built mahogany runabouts in a factory on South 27th Street. The idea that they began in a backyard garage is a myth; they were longtime marine industry people who chose to build boats rather than sell them through Carter’s dealerships in Green Bay and the Fox Valley.
In 1963 they sold the company to Walter "Wally" Markham and Glen Nordin, who had worked for Cruisers Yachts. Under them, the business shifted from wood to fiberglass and grew from a regional builder to an international company with worldwide sales.
In 2004 Carver started the Marquis Yachts line, beginning with the 59 and 65 Motor Yachts. More than 100 of the 65 Motor Yachts were built from 2005 to 2008 in Pulaski.
Carver was acquired by Marquis-Larson Boat Group. Carver Yachts permanently closed on July 30, 2021.
