Carla Morrison
Carla Patricia Morrison Flores, born July 19, 1986, in Tecate, Baja California, is a Mexican indie pop singer and guitarist. She grew up in Tecate and moved to Phoenix, Arizona at 17 to study music. She played in the band Babaluca before starting a solo career.
Her first releases were the EP Aprendiendo a Aprender (2009) and the EP Mientras tú Dormías... (2010), the latter produced by Natalia Lafourcade. In 2012 she released her debut album Déjenme Llorar, which became very successful in Mexico and earned Morrison two Latin Grammy Awards: Best Alternative Music Album and Best Alternative Song for the title track.
In 2015 she released Amor Supremo, which brought further recognition and nominations, including a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album and a Latin Grammy win for Best Alternative Song with "Vez Primera." In 2017 she followed with Amor Supremo Desnudo, an acoustic version of her previous songs, nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the Latin Grammys.
Morrison has collaborated with artists such as Juan Gabriel on Los Dúo, Vol. 2 (2013), appeared on Lila Downs' "Ser Paloma" (2018) and on J Balvin's album Vibras (2018). She also pursued acting, starring as Laura in the film Ana Maria in Novela Land (2015).
In 2020 she released the single "Ansiedad" ahead of her upcoming album El Renacimiento, with a video shot in Lithuania.
