Captain America in: The Doom Tube of Dr. Megalomann is an action game from the late 1980s. It was published by U.S. Gold on the Go! label for Atari ST, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, and ZX Spectrum. It is Captain America’s first computer game.

In the game, you guide Captain America through Dr. Megalomann’s Doom Tube, a long tube inside another tube with several chambers around a central core. A deadly virus has been released, and you can move only in areas you’re immune to. Defeating enemies lets you collect ying-yang that boosts your immunity. Captain America can throw his shield to defeat foes. Shields are limited, but you can reuse ones that kill enemies or if you recall a shield before it’s lost.

As you explore, you must find fragments of a password to unlock the final area and disable missiles. The action happens in real time, and you have one hour to finish the game.

Plotwise, Dr. Megalomann plans to launch rockets with a deadly virus. The CIA uncovers his secret base under the Mojave Desert—the Doom Tube—and Captain America is sent to stop the missiles and save the world.

The game received mixed reviews. Some critics said the graphics and sound were weak, while others noted clear but simple graphics and an addictive, challenging level of gameplay. A few publications found the instructions confusing and the gameplay repetitive, reducing its lasting appeal.
