Canton of Ahun
The Canton of Ahun is located in the Creuse department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in central France. It is an area of farming and forestry in the Guéret arrondissement, centered on the town of Ahun. The canton covers 423.88 square kilometers and includes 27 communes, with Ahun as its seat. Its population in 2023 was 6,901, giving a density of 16.28 inhabitants per square kilometer. The INSEE code is 2301.
Geography: Elevation ranges from 320 meters (Pionnat) to 685 meters (Maisonnisses), with an average around 493 meters. In 2015, the canton was expanded from 11 to 27 communes as part of a nationwide reorganization.
