The Cambridge Students’ Union (Cambridge SU) is the students’ union for the University of Cambridge. It represents all Cambridge students, runs services and events, and campaigns on student issues. Cambridge SU began in 2020 when Cambridge University Students’ Union (CUSU) merged with the University of Cambridge Graduate Union.

Location and membership
Cambridge SU is based on the 3rd Floor of the University Centre, Granta Place, Mill Lane, Cambridge CB2 1RU. All University of Cambridge students are members by default (they can opt out). The union is partly funded by the university and by student activities.

What Cambridge SU does
- Represents student interests to the university and at national level.
- Supports student groups, runs campaigns and services, and organises events.
- Holds annual elections for full‑time sabbatical officers and for delegates to the National Union of Students (NUS).

Current leadership
Five full‑time sabbatical officers (2024–25):
- President (Undergraduate): Matthew Copeman
- President (Postgraduate): Augustin Denis
- Vice‑President (Education & Widening Participation): Jessica Asiedu‑Kwatchey
- Vice‑President (Liberation & Welfare): Melanie Benedict
- Vice‑President (Student Community & Societies): Olivia Ledger

Governance changes
- From 2025–26, Cambridge SU will have five sabbatical roles (down from eight) following a 2024 governance review.

History in brief
- The original Cambridge Students’ Union started in 1971 as CSU, later CUSU, to represent Cambridge students (including some college students).
- It was renamed CUSU in 1985 and worked with groups like CAMNUS in earlier years.
- In 2019, students voted to merge CUSU with the University of Cambridge Graduate Union, forming Cambridge SU, which began in July 2020.
- Over the years some colleges temporarily left CUSU (e.g., Trinity in 2006; Corpus Christi in 2010; Gonville and Caius in 2013), but many rejoined later.
- The union faced financial challenges before a 2019 surplus; from 2020 to 2024 Cambridge SU ran seven campaigns, which were dissolved in 2024 during a governance review.

Cambridge SU vs Cambridge Union Society
- The Cambridge Union Society is a separate debating club. Cambridge SU is the student union for all Cambridge students (they can opt out), and is funded in part by the university.

Affiliations and contact
- Cambridge SU is affiliated with the National Union of Students (NUS) and the Aldwych Group.
