Cambridge News
Cambridge News is a British daily tabloid newspaper based in Milton, Cambridgeshire. It is published on weekdays and on Saturdays in English, and its print edition comes from its Milton headquarters.
The paper began in 1888 as the Cambridge Daily News, founded by William Farrow Taylor. It later became the Cambridge Evening News under the Iliffe family, who turned it into a profit-making business from 1969. In 2012 Local World bought the title from the Yattendon Group.
The paper has had regional editions. The St Neots edition used to be called St Neots Evening News, and the Huntingdon & St Ives edition was known as Huntingdon and St Ives Evening News for about three years before reverting to its original name.
Editors have included Paul Brackley, who led from February 2008 to April 2016, and David Bartlett, who took over in June 2016.
On 13 September 2014, the newspaper was relaunched with a new design and daily paid-for regional editions Hunts News, Royston News and Walden News, replacing some free weekly publications.
In December 2017, the front page featured a printing error with a placeholder headline "100PT SPLASH HEADING HERE"; the editor apologised for the mistake.
Cambridge News has won Regional Newspaper of the Year at The Newspaper Awards in 2009 and 2013.
Online, most news is published on Cambridgeshire Live. The site is free to view, while the e-edition of the newspaper is behind a paywall (as of 2025).
Circulation has fallen significantly over the years: about 20,987 daily in 2010–11; around 13,000 in 2016; about 8,005 in 2018; and a six-month average of 1,453 by early 2025.
