Duke of Alcalá de los Gazules, usually called Duke of Alcalá, is a hereditary Spanish noble title with the rank of Grandee. It was created in 1558 by King Philip II for Pedro Afán de Ribera y Portocarrero, the 1st Duke of Alcalá and also the 3rd Marquess of Tarifa, Lord of Alcalá de los Gazules and Viceroy of Naples and Catalonia. The title is named after the castle and lands at Alcalá de los Gazules. The area belonged to the Kingdom of Granada until 1264, when Alfonso X of Castile won it; the name comes from the Arabic Qalat at Yazula, meaning “Castle of the Gazules.” The current holder is Victoria de Hohenlohe-Langenburg y Schmidt-Polex, the 17th Duchess of Alcalá.
