Bushmead
Bushmead is a suburb in the north of Luton, Bedfordshire, England. It is roughly bounded by Weybourne Drive to the north, Bradgers Hill Road to the south, Old Bedford Road to the west, and Bradgers Hill and Stopsley Common to the east. The area was once part of Stopsley Common Farm; the farmhouse, built around 1870 by the Putteridge Estate, still stands on Bushmead Road.
The neighbourhood is mainly residential, with Bushmead Primary School and close to Luton Sixth Form College, plus some local shops. Nearby countryside offers walks to Warden Hill and Butterfield Green and is popular with dog-walkers and horse riders. Stopsley Recreational Centre is about a 15-minute walk away.
Bushmead is part of the Barnfield ward, represented by Councillors David Franks and Amjid Ali (Liberal Democrats). It lies in the Luton North parliamentary constituency, represented by MP Sarah Owen (Labour). Two weekly newspapers cover the area, though they are not specific to Bushmead.
