Burnout (ride)

Burnout is a Chance Rides Trabant amusement ride at Funfields in Melbourne, Australia. It can carry up to 36 riders, arranged as 18 pairs around a circular disc. Each pair sits with a single lap belt.

How it works: The ride starts slowly on a flat track. The disc tilts and the cars swing in a wave-like motion. As the ride ends, the cars lower toward the ground and push outward, giving a final burst of movement similar to a Music Express ride.

History: The ride began life at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast in 1983 as Roulette. In 1993 it was renamed Stingray and moved to a different area of the park. It was relocated several times over the years and was removed from Dreamworld in 2012. Stingray was sold to Funfields and rethemed Burnout, opening there on 23 November 2012.

Specifications: Manufacturer – Chance Rides; Ride type – Trabant; Height restriction – 110 cm (3 ft 7 in). Burnout at Funfields is the relocated former Dreamworld ride.
