Boca Dam
Boca Dam is an earthfill dam on the Little Truckee River at the south end of Boca Reservoir in Nevada County, California, inside the Tahoe National Forest. It sits about 6 miles northeast of Truckee, near Interstate 80, with Reno about 27 miles to the east. Construction began in 1937 and the dam opened in 1939. The dam is about 93 feet tall and 1,629 feet long, forming Boca Reservoir, which holds about 41,000 acre-feet of water and covers roughly 977 acres. The watershed covers about 172 square miles. The reservoir is operated by the Washoe County Water Conservation District and the dam by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation; Boca Dam was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.
