Bob Jarvis (politician)
Robert E. "Bob" Jarvis (November 15, 1935 – December 14, 2017) was a Canadian lawyer and Progressive Conservative politician. He was born in Ottawa, Ontario, and later became a prominent lawyer when his University of Alberta Law School degree was recognized by the Ontario Law Society—the first to achieve this. Jarvis was elected as the Member of Parliament for Willowdale in 1979 and served in the 31st Canadian Parliament as a Parliamentary Secretary. He lost his seat in the 1980 federal election to Liberal Jim Peterson. After leaving politics, he became chairman of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) in May 1985. He passed away in Richmond Hill, Ontario, in 2017 at the age of 82.
