Blues Forever
Blues Forever is a 1982 jazz album by Muhal Richard Abrams. It features seven Abrams compositions performed by an eleven‑member big band and was recorded in July 1981 at Barigozzi Studio in Milan. The album, produced by Giovanni Bonandrini, was released on the Italian Black Saint label and runs 42 minutes and 21 seconds. In Abrams’s discography it sits after Duet (1981) and before Rejoicing with the Light (1983). Critics praised its bold big‑band sound with a blues feel: AllMusic noted that while not every track clicks, the band delivers lively, contemporary arrangements; The Rolling Stone Jazz Record Guide called it Abrams’s crowning achievement, and The Penguin Guide to Jazz praised the sparkling charts and the blues undercurrent.
