Bleeding Me is a hard rock song by Metallica from their 1996 album Load. It wasn’t released as a standard single, but a promotional CD was sent to radio in March 1997, and the song reached number 6 on the US Mainstream Rock chart. The lyrics are very personal for James Hetfield. He has said that around the time of Load he wanted to quit drinking and felt others seemed happier; he described planning his life around hangovers. He also spent time in therapy for a year and uncovered painful things from his past. The song’s meaning is about trying to bleed out all the bad and confronting a dark spot inside. The track lasts 8 minutes and 18 seconds and was produced by Bob Rock along with James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich. It was written by James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, and Kirk Hammett.
