Bimal Bharali
Bimal Bharali is a former Indian cricketer from Assam. He played 31 first-class matches between 1969 and 1981—27 for Assam and 4 for East Zone. He captained Assam in most games from 1976 to 1981. A middle-order batsman, his highest score was 141 against Orissa in the 1976-77 Ranji Trophy, and his other century came against Orissa in 1980-81 when he made 119. In 1976-77, while playing for East Zone against the touring MCC, he almost saved the match by batting for most of the 54-over second innings, finishing 45 not out. He also bowled a bit, taking 5 wickets, and he held 13 catches. After retiring, Bharali served as a selector for Assam for several years before resigning in 2005 in protest when the Assam Cricket Association did not follow its own rules in appointing a coach.
