Beylik of Bafra

The Beylik of Bafra was one of the Canik beyliks, small Turkmen princedoms in northern Anatolia during the 14th and 15th centuries. Its capital was Bafra, located on the central-eastern Black Sea coast. The beylik lasted from the 14th century until 1460. People spoke Turkish and followed Sunni Islam, and it was an emirate (bey). It formed after the collapse of the Sultanate of Rum and was annexed by the Ottoman Empire in 1460. Today, its lands are part of Turkey.
