Bessemer City High School (Alabama)
Bessemer City High School (BCHS) is a public high school in Bessemer, Alabama. It is the only high school in the Bessemer City Schools district. The school is at 4950 Premiere Parkway, Bessemer, AL 35020.
BCHS serves students in grades 9–12. The principal is Stoney Pritchet. There are about 805 students (2023–24) with 34 teaching staff, for a student-teacher ratio of roughly 23.7 to 1.
School colors are purple and white, and the teams are called the Tigers. BCHS competes in AHSAA Class 6A athletics. The feeder middle school is Bessemer City Middle School.
The current BCHS building opened in January 2010. It is a 215,000-square-foot campus on a 72-acre site, largely funded by Jefferson County bond tax. It replaced Jess Lanier High School (1970–2010). The Jess Lanier building became Bessemer City Middle School in 2013.
