Ben Berlin, born Hermann Biek in 1896 in Reval (now Tallinn, Estonia), was a jazz musician. In 1928 he founded the Ben Berlin Dance Orchestra in Germany and made records with Deutsche Grammophon, including "Küss mich und morgen vergiss mich" and "Roses of Yesterday." He married composer Vera Vinogradova around 1920, and they had two children, Leopold and Nina. Because he was Jewish, he left Nazi Germany in 1933 and moved to Holland, Austria, France, and finally England, where he died in 1944 at his desk.
