Bedico is an unincorporated community in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. It sits along Highway 22, about 13 miles east of Hammond. The area is roughly 20 feet above sea level and uses the Central Time Zone (UTC-6, daylight saving time UTC-5). The 985 area code serves Bedico.

The origin of the name Bedico has several theories. One suggests it comes from Choctaw words Bihi Chito, meaning “Big Mulberry Land.” Another says it’s named after the Bettencourt (Bettencourt) family, a French Norman lineage that owned land in the area in the late 1790s. A third theory proposes that early Spanish Catholic missionaries named the place after the Order of Saint Benedict.
