Bećir Omeragić
Bećir Omeragić (born 20 January 2002) is a Swiss professional footballer who plays as a defender for Montpellier HSC in Ligue 2 and the Switzerland national team. He was born in Geneva to Bosniak parents; his father hails from Derventa and his mother from Prijedor. His football idols are Sergio Ramos, Thiago Silva, and Emir Spahić. He is the brother of Nedim Omeragić and cousin of Edin Omeragić.
Club career
Omeragić started his youth career at Étoile Carouge and Servette. He made his Swiss Super League debut for FC Zürich on 4 May 2019 as an 80th‑minute substitute against Basel, beginning a five‑year spell with Zürich. In May 2023, he signed with Montpellier HSC in France.
International career
Omeragić has represented Switzerland at youth level and was called up to the senior national team in September 2020 for UEFA Nations League fixtures. He made his Switzerland debut on 7 October 2020 in a friendly against Croatia. He was part of the Switzerland squad at Euro 2020, where the team reached the quarterfinals.

Born in Switzerland to Bosnian‑Herzegovinian descent, Omeragić’s father is from Derventa and his mother from Prijedor. He credits Sergio Ramos, Thiago Silva, and Emir Spahić as his football idols. He has a brother, Nedim, who is also a footballer, and a cousin, Edin Omeragić, who plays in football as well.
