The Battle of Dolakovo (February 1919) was a fight in the village of Dolakovo, Ingushetia, between Ingush militias and White Army units during the Russian Civil War. About 10,000 Ingush fighters defended their land against roughly 40,000 White troops led by Denikin.

Denikin’s goal was to pass through Ingushetia to reach Vladikavkaz and then Grozny. After taking Nalchik, White units moved toward Dolakovo and Kantyshevo and gave the Ingush an ultimatum to allow their passage, with a very tight deadline.

The Ingush refused. On February 4, a large Ingush congress in Bazorkino formed a Defense Committee to organize resistance, led by Musa Sautiyev. The congress declared that the Ingush would defend their land to the end. Despite pressure from White officers, the Ingush prepared to fight.

Detachments from across Ingushetia joined the defense, including Ayup Ganiev’s group, Musa Malsagov’s Altievskaya hundred, and fighters from Surkhokhi and Ekazhevo. Ayup Ganiev, 24, distinguished himself and was later awarded a certificate for courage.

The White attack failed. About 300 Ingush were killed, while White casualties reached about 2,500. The Whites did not pass through Dolakovo, and the threat to Vladikavkaz and Grozny was blocked.

The battle became a symbol of Ingush resistance to Denikin’s forces in the North Caucasus, and many local fighters are remembered for their bravery.
