Battle Creek Falls
Battle Creek Falls is a 50-foot waterfall on the west side of Mount Timpanogos, near Pleasant Grove, Utah. You can reach it from the Battle Creek Trailhead at the Kiwanis Park picnic area. The water drops onto rock at the base and doesn’t form a pool. The base and source are accessible from the trail.
The area has a semi-arid to desert climate. The creek comes from a natural spring upstream and flows year-round, but the amount of water varies—highest in late spring from snowmelt and lowest in winter when it’s often frozen.
Trees in the area include water birch, maple, Douglas fir, spruce, oak, aspen, and cottonwood. Spring and summer wildflowers you might see are western coneflower, clematis, penstemon, and balsam root. Poison ivy and stinging nettle can also be found in Battle Creek Canyon.
Battle Creek Canyon and its waterfall are named after an 1849 massacre of a small band of Ute people by Mormon settlers under Brigham Young. Pleasant Grove was originally named Battle Creek.
